Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a well known cricketer. He is a right handed batsman and also known for quick and witty wicket keeping. He is known as the greatest captain of all the time in the history of cricket. He is only the captain who won all ICC tournaments.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born on 7 July 1981 at Ranchi. MS Dhoni comes from a typical rajput family. His paternal village is in Almora districtt of uttarakhand. His parents moved to ranchi where his father worked for MECON. His mother is a House wife. He has a sister jayanti gupta and one elder brother narendra singh dhoni.

Dhoni was selected by Deval Sahay to play for Central Coal Limited in 1998. MS Dhoni was a hard hitter and very dedicated player. Deval Sahay was impressed by these qualities of Dhoni and used his contacts for Dhoni’s selection in the junior Bihar cricket team. In one year, with his hard work and dedication Dhoni moved from playing in CCL to the Bihar Ranji team. In 2003 season, specially in one day format, he was selected for the team India A which went for a tour of Kenya to play a tri-series tournament with Pakistan A. In the series he scored 362 runs in 6 innings at an average of 72.40. The then Indian captain Sourav Ganguly was very much impressed by his performance in the series.

Dhoni was made the captain of the Indian team for the ICC World Twenty20 held in South africa in September 2007. He made his first debut as full time captain of the Test team in 2008 replacing Anil Kumble who then announced his retirement. India became No 1 in the ICC Test Rankings in December 2009 under his captaincy. Dhoni’s always calm and composed behavior on the field worked as a miracle for the team. It is because of his calm behavior that people call him ‘Captain Cool’. He is one of the best finishers in the game and nive times he finished an ODI match with a six.
He is one of the three captains in the world after Ricky Ponting and Stephen Fleming who have captained their teams for more than 300 ODIs. He captained 60 Tests matches and had 27 wins in his account. He led India to 107 ODI wins in 194 ODIs as a captain. Under his captaincy, India won the world cup 2011 and reached upto semi-finals in 2015. India won the World Cup in 2011 and reached the semifinals in 2015 under his captaincy.
On 4th January 2017, Captain cool announced his decision to stand down from his position as captain of the Indian ODI and T20 cricket.c
